KTZ introduces innovative track diagnostic technologies
21-11-2024
New approaches to organizing high-precision track diagnostics are being implemented on the railway. The project "High-precision positioning of mobile diagnostic tools (MDS)" improves the accuracy of track diagnostics and reduces the time for troubleshooting.
The project is aimed at improving traffic safety, improving the efficiency of railway infrastructure and optimizing many processes in railway transport.
"One of the main problems in the technological process of infrastructure diagnostics is the error of binding up to 20 m to the track coordinate of mobile diagnostic tools (MDS), which leads to difficulties in finding detected faults. The high-precision positioning project is aimed at solving this problem," said Rashid Sharapiyev, General Manager of the branch of NC KTZ JSC - Track Diagnostics Center.
The project was launched in 2022. During this time, numerous tests and three pilot projects were conducted, the results of which showed an average measurement accuracy of up to 1 m in dynamics.
The main goals of the project are to increase labor productivity in diagnosing the condition of railway infrastructure facilities, improve the reliability of analytical information and eliminate the human factor.
According to the specialist, with the help of video cameras, a satellite GNSS receiver and specialized software installed on a mobile diagnostic tool, objects of the main network are identified and their geographic coordinates are determined in relation to the track ordinate.
"Technically, it is possible to register infrastructure objects located on the main network and located in the visibility zone of video cameras for digital track certification," noted Rashid Sharapiev.
In addition, the data obtained after analysis and processing are used in another project, TripOptimizer, which is aimed at setting optimal modes for locomotive traction control. To date, data has been collected and processed for more than 5,000 km of non-electrified sections of the main network.
In the future, the project “High-precision positioning of mobile diagnostic tools (MSD)” is planned to be replicated throughout the country.
