NC KTZ JSC launched the Digitalization Week, dedicated to improving the efficiency of the transportation process and aimed at improving the company’s operating activities in the field of freight transportation.

As part of the week, meetings are held between representatives of the involved services of KTZ, KTZ-Freight Transportation LLP and Wabtec. Digital solutions for automating train traffic planning, scheduling and optimizing operations on the mainline network were presented.

In order to increase the efficiency of railway transportation, KTZ-Freight Transportation LLP equips its fleet of TE33A series freight locomotives with the Wabtec digital Trip Optimizer system.

Trip Optimizer is an intelligent system that helps the driver control the locomotive by automatically adjusting the controller and dynamic brake. The system, analyzing data on the route and cargo, calculates the optimal speed limit and fuel consumption in real time. The project “Implementation of the digital system “Trip Optimizer” is aimed at improving the quality of train driving by the locomotive crew, planning the linking of locomotives to finished trains, and reducing emissions of harmful substances. Based on the results of the project, it is expected that quantitative and qualitative operational indicators will improve and diesel fuel will be saved.

“And in the next decade, we plan to collaborate with KTZ to make them a global model in the field of sustainable development and environmentally friendly technologies, while continuing to improve their operational efficiency through digital technologies,” said Gokhan Baykhan, senior vice president of Vabtek Corporation in Russia/CIS, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

The Week will end with a visit to the capital’s KTZ facilities: the marshalling yard, the locomotive depot and JSC “Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty”.
