KTZ to develop strategic plan for locomotive fleet development

KTZ-Freight Transportation LLC summed up the results of locomotive depots for the first half of 2024. The final meeting was held at the locomotive depot in Turkestan under the chairmanship of Deputy General Director for Locomotive Facilities Asan Umbetov with the participation of Kamkor-Locomotive LLC managers, KTZ-Freight Transportation LLC operation and repair departments, and locomotive depot managers. During the meeting, they summed up the work, exchanged experiences, and noted the best depots.

In the first half of the year, high-quality indicators for the use of rolling stock were achieved, uninterrupted operation was ensured in compliance with train safety requirements. Locomotive productivity was 100.7% higher than last year's level. The technical speed has increased by 102%, the section speed has grown by 104%. The locomotive run has been completed by 103.5%. The useful operating time of the locomotive was 13.22 hours, an increase of 101% compared to the previous year. In the first half of the year, a decrease in traffic safety violations was recorded and diesel fuel savings by locomotives amounted to 759 tons.

This year, major repairs are planned for 23 facilities (rest houses for locomotive crews, wagon maintenance points, administrative buildings, etc.), and current repairs will be carried out at 10 facilities. In 2024, the locomotive fleet will be replenished with 67 units, a total of 109 modern locomotives will be purchased.

Following the meeting, it is planned to organize technical maintenance of locomotives at the Kandyagash depot, which will reduce the cost of shipping locomotives and the cost of their repair. A strategic plan for the development of the locomotive fleet will also be developed, which will take into account the locations of operating depots and repair facilities, the deployment of locomotives, the service shoulders of locomotive crews, the location of rest homes, the modernization of maintenance points, etc.

At the meeting, locomotive depots that have achieved high performance indicators and the quality of locomotive preparation for summer transportation were identified. In the nomination "Locomotive depots of the first group (diesel locomotives)", the first place was awarded to the Pavlodar operational locomotive depot, the second - to the Kyzylorda depot, the third - to the Sekseul depot.

The winners in the nomination "Locomotive depots of the second group (electric locomotives)" were the Arys depot (1st place), Astana depot (2nd place), Ekibaztuz depot (3rd place). In the nomination "Locomotive depots of the third group (diesel locomotives)" the top three were Atyrau, Makat and Ayagoz depots.
