KTZ and Huawei: how the digital transformation of Kazakhstan’s railways is taking place

“NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC  and Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan, within the framework of a strategic partnership aimed at digitalization of Kazakhstan’s railways, implemented the first stage of modernization of data networks.

Data networks are the basic infrastructure in which the technological foundation is formed for the implementation of the digital transformation strategy of the national carrier with the aim of transitioning to innovative technologies in the field of logistics.

At the first stage, SD-WAN technology was introduced at NC KTZ JSC, which will connect the head office in Astana and the 16 largest branches of the railways of Kazakhstan. KTZ will have access to all the advantages of this solution: dynamic centralized monitoring of the status of network devices and communication channels, high performance, building optimal routing of services in terms of quality, priorities and delays.

Huawei's SD-WAN solution allows KTZ to optimize data networks and simplify infrastructure management. SD-WAN provides faster data transfer rates, improved network reliability, and flexibility in network management. The technology also makes it easy to adapt and scale the network to meet current needs, ensuring reliable operation under any conditions. Thanks to the use of ZTP (Zero-touch provisioning) technology, the SD-WAN solution has the ability to easily connect new stations without the need for time-consuming configuration and service migration.

In addition, it will increase data throughput, which will allow the introduction of modern technologies that are more demanding in terms of information transfer speed. The implementation of the project became possible thanks to the coordinated work of specialists from Transtelecom JSC, Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan and specialists from the Main Computing Center of NC KTZ JSC,” noted Negmetzhan Ilyas Maratuly, Director of the Department for Implementation of Linear Systems of the branch of NC KTZ JSC - Main Computing center".
