On September 5, a meeting between the management of NC KTZ JSC and Urumqi Railway LLC took place in Astana. The parties discussed current issues of interaction in the field of freight transportation and the development of railway infrastructure.

Positive dynamics of cargo transportation by rail between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China was noted. In 2022, a record result was achieved - 23.2 million tons. For 8 months of this year, the volume of cargo transportation amounted to 18.7 million tons, which is 22% more than last year.

To ensure growing freight traffic, railway workers of the two countries are implementing projects to increase infrastructure capacity. KTZ is actively building a second line on the Dostyk – Moiynty section. The plans include the construction of a third border crossing Bakhty-Tachen and new railway lines Bakhty-Ayagoz, Darbaza-Maktaaral, and a bypass around Almaty. The Chinese side is reconstructing the Alashankou station and the Alashankou-Jinghe section.

The meeting participants emphasized the importance of synchronized development of the transport infrastructure of the two countries.
