10-01-2025
A working meeting of the management of JSC Passenger Transportation and JSC Uzbekistan Temir Yollari was held in Astana. The parties discussed the development of interaction and cooperation in the field of passenger transportation between the two countries.
During the negotiations, an agreement was signed on the operation of tourist trains between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and the composition of the working group for the implementation of joint projects was approved. One of the first steps in this direction was the launch of the tourist train "Jibek Joly", organized by the railway companies of the two countries.
Given the high popularity of the route and its importance for both countries, it was decided to continue the development of the "Jibek Joly" project and consider the possibility of opening similar tourist routes in other directions. In particular, a new international route "Astana-Samarkand" is being considered, which will contribute to the further development of the tourism potential of the two countries.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of adjusting train schedules on international routes to improve passenger convenience and increase passenger traffic.
At the initiative of the Uzbek side, it was proposed to revise the schedule of train No. 1/2 "Almaty-Tashkent", which made the departure and arrival times more convenient for passengers.
It is worth noting that train No. 1/2 "Almaty-Tashkent" has become an important part of the transport connection between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Last year, it carried more than 72 thousand passengers, which underlines the growing interest in this route. The distance between the two countries is 988 km.
Also during the visit, issues of exchanging experience in the field of passenger transportation management, rolling stock maintenance, implementation of information systems and organization of online ticket sales were discussed.
JSC "Passenger Transportation" and JSC "Uzbekistan Railways" confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation in order to improve the quality of passenger service and stimulate the growth of transportation between the two countries.
