Transportation of grain from Kazakhstan to China from September 2022 to June 2023 to a similar indicator for loading the 2021–2022 harvest. increased 4 times - to 1.1 million tons. 78% of the total grain volume (844 thousand tons) was transported in containers. Loading of ground products to China increased 3 times - up to 344 thousand tons, all of this volume was transported in containers. Through the Altynkol-Khorgos crossing, the loading of grain increased by 200 times, and grinding products by 6.5 times.

The Chinese side notified about the ongoing modernization of the container terminal at Alashankou station and asks to temporarily increase the volume of grain cargo transportation in grain carriers and covered wagons and increase cargo flows through the Altynkol-Khorgos crossing.
