Dredging operations in Kuryk port were completed in record time. Currently, the depth of the water area and the approach channel of the port is from 7 to 8 meters, which allows increasing the draft of vessels processed in the port and achieving their full load.
Within 4 months, the general contractor, ‘Jan De Nul Kazakhstan’ LLP, with the help of the most powerful dredger in the Caspian Sea ‘Vesalius’ carried out all the necessary work. The volume of soil removed amounted to more than 990,000 cubic meters.
Four vessels of ‘Jan De Nul Kazakhstan’ LLP, tugs and equipment of Kazakhstani contractors, domestic design and survey companies were involved in the work. More than 50 jobs were created.
Dredging operations created conditions for further expansion of the port's terminal capacity. The specified works are part of the complex measures taken within the framework of the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route and will ensure the maintenance of the growing needs for the transportation of goods on this route.
Reference: The design capacity of the Kuryk port is 6 million tons of cargo per year, of which 4.1 million tons are rail transportation and 1.9 million tons are transportation of vehicles.
