ALSTOM to supply 117 locomotives to Kazakhstan by 2028

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Electric Locomotive Assembly Plant LLP and ALSTOM have agreed to supply 117 freight electric locomotives by 2028 and establish service centers. The corresponding document was signed in Paris at the Kazakh-French Business Council.
Powerful freight electric locomotives capable of transporting freight trains weighing up to 9000 tons will replace the outdated VL-80 locomotives of the 1980 model. The advantages of these locomotives are lower cost, economical use of electricity, high reliability and reduced maintenance costs.
The guarantor of the transaction will be the export credit agency of the French Ministry of Finance BPI France. French bank Société Générale will provide preferential financing at low rates for the purchase of locomotives.
