About 54 million tons of coal delivered via the KTZ network to Kazakhstani consumers
03-02-2025
Since the start of preparations for the heating season (from May 2024 to January 29 of this year), 53.9 million tons of coal have been delivered to the regions of Kazakhstan by rail. Of this volume, more than 47.8 million tons were transported for thermal power plants, and another 6.1 million tons were transported to the public utility sector.
The coal reserves at the country's thermal power plants are about 4.6 million tons, which is 10% more than in the previous period. It is important to note that coal reserves at all thermal power plants in the republic exceed the standard indicators. The demand of the public utility sector is 8.2 million tons of coal, while more than 480 thousand tons have already been accumulated at coal dead ends as of today.
To effectively coordinate coal transportation, KTZ has a 24-hour headquarters that closely cooperates with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Meetings with local executive bodies are held daily. According to their information, there is no excitement among the population regarding coal supply issues.
KTZ fully fulfills all requests from shippers, ensuring uninterrupted transportation of coal. In addition, there is a reserve of empty gondola cars for 3-4 days in advance. KTZ continues to work on stable coal delivery and calls on coal operators and shippers to submit transportation requests more quickly in order to avoid delays and ensure uninterrupted coal supply.
