The Darbaza – Maktaaral railway line will reduce the load on Saryagash station by 40%
12-12-2025
Construction of the Darbaza – Maktaaral railway line, which will become a key link in the development of transport infrastructure in southern Kazakhstan, is ongoing. The project includes the construction of Yerdaut station and a new rail section in the direction of Maktaaral station.
The new mainline will provide direct railway connection for the southern regions to Kazakhstan's primary network. It will allow for the redistribution of transit flows from Russia and China to Central Asian countries and will reduce the load on Saryagash station by 40%.
The project's implementation will create approximately 3,400 temporary jobs from 2025 to 2026. After the line's commissioning in 2026, 500 permanent jobs will be opened.
Upon the launch of the section, trains heading to Havast (Uzbekistan), Khujand (Tajikistan), and Galaba (Afghanistan) will be routed via the new line, ensuring more efficient connectivity with Central Asian regions.
