Astana station is testing the KinetiX smart train diagnostics system

The innovative KinetiX rolling stock inspection system is being piloted at Astana station. The system has already been installed and will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2026.

Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Murat Toregeldin, Deputy Chairman of the Board, and Vladimir Petrov, Director of the Transportation Process Directorate, a branch of JSC NC KTZ, evaluated the system's performance during a visit to Sorokovaya station.

This technology improves the accuracy of car component diagnostics and enables early prediction of rolling stock repair schedules and volumes, a key criterion for ensuring train safety.

The KinetiX system automatically scans cars in motion and identifies defects without stopping trains. This is accomplished using cameras, 3D scanning technologies, infrared, acoustic, and vibration sensors, as well as artificial intelligence algorithms.

The system includes several subsystems for monitoring bogies, braking equipment, wheelsets, axlebox bearings, and automatic coupling devices. All detected faults are automatically transmitted to specialist workstations, enabling prompt response and effective repair planning.

The implementation of KinetiX reduces personnel workload, shortens car inspection time, and increases railway capacity. The system is planned to be installed in six more regions of the country and integrated with other KTZ digital platforms.

The KinetiX system is already successfully in operation at over 400 facilities worldwide, demonstrating the technology's reliability and efficiency in a variety of climatic conditions.

For KTZ, the KinetiX project is an important step toward developing an intelligent railway and improving safety and the technological sustainability of the transportation process.
