The extracurricular railway station of Karaganda includes a 2-storey station building built in 1956 and a 3-storey new terminal built in 2019 with a total area of 5,188.7 m2. There is an apron and two island platforms. To perform operations for the reception and delivery of baggage and cargo, as well as its storage, there is a separate luggage compartment on the platform.
The concourse crossing is equipped with 2 elevators and 4 escalators. The new terminal has 4 escalators and an elevator for people with disabilities.
Features of the structure
The building was designed in the classical Soviet architectural style and commissioned in 1956. The project of the building was developed by the institute "Lengiprotrans", the authors of the project are Leningrad architects Ashastin P.A. and Beniolinson M.B. The foyer and waiting rooms are decorated with bas-reliefs, the author of which is the Karaganda sculptor Peter Antonenko.
Track development
Five tracks with two boarding platforms and an apron are specialized for the reception and departure of passenger trains. The total area of the platform is 4,290 sq.m., 1 island platform – 5,347 sq.m., 2 island platforms – 3,936 sq.m., the length of the platform allows serving a train consisting of 26 passenger cars.
