The project “Procurement category management” allowed JSC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” to yield a saving at the amount of KZT 260 mln.

The financial benefits are the outcomes of changing the approach to aircraft fuel purchase through implementation of the procurement category strategy. The team, including employees of “Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport”, LLP “Airport Management Group”, employees of the Department for Procurement Coordination and Monitoring of JSC “NC “KTZ”, branch of JSC “NC “KTZ” – “Center for Business Transformation” and international consultants under the leadership of the Project Sponsor – Mr. E. Imashev, the Vice President for corporate affairs, - has performed analysis of internal and external environments within the category, which results made it possible to identify the tools for costs optimization within the category. Change of the procurement model was one of such tools that allowed JSC “Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport” to purchase jet fuel directly from the resource owners, eliminating participation of intermediate parties.

 “Our team has performed fruitful efforts and ensured achievement of the first deliverables due to the developed strategy”, - notes Daulet Matmuratov, the Leader of “Jet Fuel” procurement category group, Managing Director for procurements at LLP “AMG”.

The project “Procurement category management” is aimed at achievement of a strategic target to enhance the equity capital value and it relies on the following tasks: revenue increase, costs reduction, optimization of the working capital in terms of stocks, and optimization of the fixed capital in regards to logistic infrastructure in the Western Region – as a pilot project.

“In general, implementation of 17 procurement category strategies engages the best specialists of “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” group of companies. To the date, the team has developed and approved 11 procurement category strategies. We set challenging targets to gain the economic effect from costs optimization across the company due to a set of efforts provided by the strategies”, - shares a vision Gulnara Amanbayeva, Leader of the Supply Chain Management Stream, branch of JSC “NC “KTZ” – “Center for Business Transformation”.
