The volume of transit traffic on the Dostyk-Brest route doubles every year

The delegation of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" headed by the CEO Kanat Alpysbaev took part in the Belarusian transport week - 2017 in Minsk.

Within the framework of the event K. Alpysbaev met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky. During the conversation, the prospects of development of cooperation in the transit and transport sphere were discussed.

At the talks with the heads of the railway administrations of Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania, K. Alpysbaev discussed issues of further development of interaction in the field of transport and logistics.

The head of JSC NC KTZ spoke at the plenary session on the interface of the transport and logistics system of Belarus with the Economic belt of the Silk Road.

K.Alpysbayev noted the need to create favorable conditions for the development of transit container transportations in the direction of East-West and said that "with the active participation of partners - railroad workers of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, the annual volume of transit traffic along the Dostyk-Brest route has been achieved."

"If in 2011, on this route, we transported only 1.1 thousand containers, in 2016 - 101 thousand containers. This year we expect at least 200 thousand TEU. We are facing the task of attracting 2 million containers to transcontinental corridors by 2020, including Dostyk-Brest-800,000 TEU," said the head of JSC NC KTZ.

According to him, the joint efforts of the railway administrations of the countries of the Eurasian Union made it possible to remove many infrastructure restrictions that hampered the development of key transcontinental routes from China to Europe. But much work remains to be done to increase the speed of the transit container trains and increase the turnover of the cars.

"The optimum time of trains passage is ensured on the Kazakhstan-Chinese border, which allows increasing the speed as a whole along the route," K.Alpysbayev noted and suggested developing a joint technology for unobstructed passage of container trains in the message Dostyk/Altynkol-Brest-Dostyk/Altynkol.

Improving the quality of transportation services is facilitated by information support of the transportation process (electronic document management, digitalization, implementation of IT platforms).

"The Kazakhstani railway is ready to integrate information systems and work in a single information field with the countries participating in the route," said the head of the Company.

The participants of the plenary session noted that the creation of favorable conditions for the advancement of transit cargo along the East-West corridor contributes to the development of the economies of the countries of the Eurasian Union as a whole.

Representatives of railway administrations, state structures, logistics companies of Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine took part in the Belarusian Transport Week-2017.
